If your puppy has an upset tummy, it is most likely diet related. Your dog may have eaten its food too fast or eaten something it should not have, according to Vet Info. To settle your puppy's stomach and rehydrate it, give it ice chips or Gatorade. Wait at least 12 hours before you give him solid food. When you feed the puppy, make sure it is bland food so it won't upset its stomach again.

Bland foods, such as plain starches, are good to give your dog when his tummy is not so good because they will line the belly. Plain starches include white rice, plain pasta and oatmeal. K911 recommends putting white rice over plain oatmeal. If your dog also has diarrhoea, starches will also help with that. Starch absorbs water, so after your puppy eats it he may also drink more water. Regular potatoes and sweet potatoes are also good starches to give your dog.

Plain Meat

Instead of giving your puppy dog food, give him small pieces of chicken or beef. Vet Info recommends making a piece of chicken and removing the skin. Make sure not to cook it with any spices. It should be boiled so it will taste bland and fall off of the bone easily. Cut up the chicken into very small pieces so they will be easier for your puppy to swallow and digest. Small pieces of boiled hamburger will also calm the stomach, according to, K911. Mix either meat with plain white rice.

Plain Yogurt

Giving your dog a few scoops of plain yoghurt will also be good for her stomach. Yoghurt contains active cultures that aid in digestion and in the intestinal tract. Yoghurt can even help shorten the length that your dog might have diarrhoea and nausea. Do not give your dog yoghurt with fruit or sweetened yoghurt because it contains sugar that may upset the stomach. Cottage cheese contains the same cultures that yoghurt does so it is also an option to feed your dog, according to K911.

Gelatin is also good to give puppies who are experiencing nausea, according to The Daily Puppy. If possible, you should give them plain gelatin. It is bland enough for the stomach that your dog can eat it. It contains protein, which is good for your dog to have. You can also mix it with oatmeal or rice.
