Bible programs for preschool children introduce basic concepts behind biblical stories and scripture. Christmas themes, such as angels and wise men, sometimes called kings, lend themselves well to a host of crafts easy enough for little hands that are still developing in the fine motor skill department. Reinforce biblical lessons for Sunday school, vacation bible school or other children's programs by providing a fun craft that corresponds with the scriptures.

Coffer with Gold
In the book of "Matthew", chapter 2 verse 11 (2:11), it is written that the wise men gave gifts to Baby Jesus. These gifts consisted of frankincense, myrrh and gold. Frankincense and myrrh are Somalian resins derived from tree sap. Decorate cardboard or paper mâché "treasure chests" purchased at craft, teaching supply, discount or party stores and fill the coffers with gold-covered chocolate coins. Decorate the coffers with adhesive foam shapes, washable markers, and metallic stickers.
Construction Paper Crown
Cut a 4-inch wide piece of construction paper to fit the diameter of a child's head. Use pinking shears to trim the top edge of the crown or cut equally spaced triangles along one length edge. Allow the child to decorate the crown while flat with markers, stickers, adhesive foam shapes or crayons. Wrap the crown around the child's head and tape the edges together.
Cut the centre circle from a 9-inch diameter paper dinner plate. Cut the remaining paper rim in half. Use school glue or a glue gun (adult teacher only) to attach brown or black cotton balls or craft pom-poms to one half of the paper rim until it is completely covered. Use a hole punch to punch a hole 1-inch from the outer edge at each end of the rim. Feed a 10-inch piece of ribbon, string or yarn through each hole and tie each end into a knot. Tie the strings behind the child's head to hold the beard across the child's face. An optional beard craft features using a paper beard template (Resources). Colour or glue pom-poms to the paper cut out beard mask and attach ties as instructed for the paper plate beard.
Stained "Glass" Coloring Pages
Colouring pages do not have to be mundane. Print wise men images from an online template (Resources) onto white vellum. Allow the preschoolers to colour the wise men colouring pages with markers. Make a frame from strips of construction paper and tape the strips to each side of the colouring page. Use a hole punch to punch a hole at the top centre of the coloured vellum page. String yarn or ribbon through the hole and tie it into a knot. Form a loop and tie into place to use as a stained "glass" hanger. Hang the stained "glass" wise men pages in front of a sunny window.
