List of XBox 360 Games Without Region Encoding

Updated April 17, 2017

The majority of Xbox 360 games are locked to work only in a specific region. For example, Japanese games are not playable on North American consoles. This contrasts with the PlayStation 3, where the vast majority of games are region free. However, there are an increasing number of Xbox 360 games released without a region encoding. These games include many of the system's major titles including action adventure, first person shooter and party games.

Action Adventure

A number of region-free action adventure games are available for the Xbox 360, including: Alan Wake, Army of Two: The 40th Day, Assassin's Creed and Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Bayonetta, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Dead Rising 2, Devil May Cry 4, Dark Void, Dead Space 2, Enslaved, Fracture, Gears of War 1 and 2, Kayne and Lynch 1 and 2, Naruto: Rise of a Ninja, Ninja Gaiden 2, Resident Evil 5, Splatterhouse and Stranglehold.

First Person Shooters

First person shooter (FPS) games are some of the most popular games on the Xbox 360. Music and Party Games

With the recent release of the Kinect motion detection controller for the Xbox 360, music and party games have become more popular than ever on the console. Some of the games released in these genres lack region locking. These include: The Beatles: Rock Band, Biggest Loser Ultimate, Dance Central, Disney Sing It: High School Musical 3, DJ Hero, Guitar Hero World Tour, Guitar Hero 5, Lips, Motion Sports, Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing and Viva PiƱata: Trouble in Paradise.
