There are several reasons that you might consider using remnant granite for improvement projects. It might be that you have recently remodelled a kitchen or bath and have leftover pieces. Or you might have a small project in mind that doesn't warrant a full slab of granite. Whatever the reason, using remnant granite can save you a lot of money, but it is not without its own hazards. Always be sure that you will have enough granite to finish your whole project, because you might not be able to find a close match to that granite again.

Leftover granite can be used to create a bathroom vanity. This is a popular option for leftover granite from kitchen remodels. It is easy to tie a home together when the bathroom vanity matches the kitchen counter. Remnant granite can also be purchased for the sole purpose of remodelling a bath.

Cutting Board

It is a good idea to use remnant granite from a kitchen remodel to create a custom matching cutting board. The cutting board will help protect the countertop and keep it looking new longer. For finished edges, ask your contractor to make the cutting board for you.

Smaller leftover pieces of granite can be used in the yard to create a beautiful and unique set of pathway stones. Even smaller pieces can be used to create a mosaic patio tabletop or as accents in a poured concrete walkway.

The mantel and surround of a fireplace is the focal point of a room. Use remnant granite to create a rich and visually interesting fireplace. Granite can be polished or raw, depending on your decor and taste. Make the entire surround from granite slabs or mix the granite with glass and tile in a mosaic.

If you have a granite countertop, you might want to save your remnant granite. There is a very small possibility that you will ever find the same colour and grain of granite again. If your granite is ever damaged and a section needs replacing, it will help to have some of the original granite on hand.
