Celebrate your boyfriend's birthday all day long by giving a gift that allows the two of you to spend the day searching for it and enjoying it. Leave magazines laying around that reflect what you're considering planning such as one on extreme sports and strike up a conversation to see if he's interested. Birthdays are a good time to take risks and try new things. Frame a photo of your time together after returning home.

Extreme Sports

Birthdays offer the opportunity to try new adventurous things. Grab your guy, drive him to a secret location and participate in an activity that will stimulate adrenalin. Ziplining, river rafting, hand gliding and off-road excursions all offer a variety of air, water and land activities. Ziplining sites offer differing degrees of heights and lengths in their lines. Rafting ranges from easy flow with minimal steering effort to rivers that vigorously rush their users in boats. Jeep excursions through the desert or mountains travel into earthquake fault lines and across dunes.

Romantic Celebration

Romantic men enjoy being appreciated and loved in gentler ways. If your boyfriend fits this category, surprise him with a present that offers the two of you an opportunity to spend time together. A river dinner cruise, afternoon of ice skating outdoors in the park or hot air balloon ride all suit applicable needs. Rent a motorcycle for the day and tour around, stop for food when the spirit moves you, take pictures and compile them in an album for later reflection. Riding classes are available if necessary.

Sports Event

Show your boyfriend you care by giving him two tickets to his favourite sports' team event. Attend the game with him even if you don't personally like the sport. Paint your faces in team colours or spray hair with applicable temporary colouring. Make a secret sign before heading to the stadium or arena that says, "Happy Birthday" and your boyfriend's name and hold it up in the stands. Ask the stadium announcer to have it broadcast on the digital screen and send him celebratory salutations.

Scavenger Hunt for Presents

Plan to give your boyfriend a couple smaller gifts for his big day and spend the afternoon driving around town searching for them. Design a colourful sheet of clues for him to follow and provide him with a second sheet of driving directions if necessary. Travel to the magic, video game, home improvement, music or book store and after he's figured out what his gift is, purchase and give it to him. Head to the next location. Stop intermittently as desired for coffee, a drink or dessert or also weave those intentions into the clues.
