It can be difficult to purchase the right gift for a girl who's getting confirmed, especially if you know little about the Catholic faith. Appropriate gifts encourage the girl to pray and grow with Jesus. Some gifts are keepsakes for the girl to treasure. When purchasing an item, choose something that demonstrates your support for the girl's religion.

Rosaries teach the girl to say the "Apostles' Creed," "Glory Be to the Father," "Hail Mary" and "Our Father." Girls who have gone through confirmation should know these prayers to grow with God. A beaded rosary necklace craft kit encourages the girl to learn to make her own rosary, if she is crafty. Or, get a rosary personalised in the girl's favourite colour. Some rosaries have dove centres to symbolise peace.

The cross is important to Catholics because it demonstrates that Jesus died for their sins. Catholics believe that Jesus is God's son, and part of the trinity. Some Catholics like wearing a cross necklace to remind them of the cross that Jesus bore. Sterling silver cross lockets can hold a picture of the girl getting confirmed. Alternatively, buy a sterling silver, white gold or yellow gold cross on a thin chain.

Every Catholic should own a Bible to study. Some Bibles are specifically made for confirmation. Or, get a youth Bible so the teen girl can learn Bible stories in an easy-to-read manner. Engrave a Bible with the girl's name, for a gift that will become a keepsake for her to pass on as an heirloom. Bookmark a few passages about success, such as Proverbs 22:4.

Bouquet of Flowers

Even though flowers are an uncommon confirmation gift, the girl should look wonderful holding the bouquet during photos. Roses and calla lillies can come in a dramatic red that complements the girl's white gown. Or, get flowers in the girl's favourite colour. Include the patron saint card or medal of Saint Therese the Little Flower, also popularly known as The Little Flower of Jesus, who was a French Carmelite nun.
