Christian Valentine Banquet Ideas

Valentine's Day is all about love, hearts and showing each other how special they are to us. Christians believe that they should live their lives for Christ and one way of doing that is loving others. A Christian Valentine's banquet is a good way to emphasize the Biblical topic of love, both God's love for us and our love for each other. It's also a good way for Christian couples to celebrate their romance in a pure environment.

Themes

A Christian Valentine's banquet doesn't need any more of a theme than Valentine's Day and Christian love, but if you want something a little different, consider other themes. If your church or Christian group supports a missionary, choose that missionary's country as a theme for the Valentine's Day banquet. Show your love for the Lord and for the missionary by asking for donations for the missionary at the banquet. Use images from the missionary's country as a decorative theme for the banquet. You could also choose to use a particular color scheme or Scripture verse as a theme.

Decorations

Decorate a Christian Valentine's banquet with a lot of red heart cutouts, red, white and pink balloons and streamers and yards of white tulle draped on walls. White and red Christmas lights create a nice decorative element when laid on tables, strung on walls or decorating plants. White table linens can be enhanced with red heart cutouts and clear river rocks that are scattered on the table to add some glitter. Centerpieces can be as simple as a red floral arrangement or a bouquet of red, white and pink balloons. Print Scripture verses on large poster board to hang on walls.

Activities

Activities at a Christian Valentine's banquet can include giving words of affirmation and love to others. Have the guests take a moment to tell each other the things that they love about each other. This activity should be done with the person each guest came with, but in the case of a single's banquet, have the guests partner with someone at their table. The affirmations can be as simple as complimenting someone on her outfit or can be more meaningful if the people know each other well.

Favors

Christian Valentine's Day banquets should include favors for guests. Typical party favors will be sufficient. Favors can be candy wrapped in tulle or a truffle in a small box. Bookmarks with a Scripture verse about love is a nice way to bring the Bible into a Christian banquet. You can add a simple Christian-based phrase, such as "God loves you" to a piece of a paper and attach it to just about any item to create a favor. Roses or other red flowers are an example of an item that can have a Scripture attached to them.
