"Pulp Fiction" Costume Ideas

Updated November 21, 2016

"Pulp Fiction" was released in 1994 and directed and co-written by Quentin Tarantino. Wildly popular with both the general public and Tarantino's devoted fans, the film, which retains its edginess today, focuses on the lives of a boxer, two hit men, the wife of a mafia boss and two thieves. Dress to impress and recreate the look of a "Pulp Fiction" character this Halloween.

Mia Wallace

Mia Wallace, played by Uma Thurman, is a popular costume choice from "Pulp Fiction." Get the look of this character by purchasing a dark brown, chin-length bob wig with fringe if you don't have short, dark hair. Pair the wig with tight, black trousers, black high heels and a white button-down shirt. Add red lipstick and a fake, or real, cigarette. Many choose to represent Mia from the scene in the movie in which she overdoses on drugs; do this by disheveling your hair and adding a line of fake blood underneath your nose.

Vincent Vega

"Pulp Fiction's" Vincent Vega, played by John Travolta, is a mafia hit man who works underneath Mia Wallace's husband. Putting together a Vincent Vega Halloween costume is quite simple; don a black suit, white button-up shirt, black tie and black dress shoes. Pair this outfit with a shoulder-length black wig, parted in the middle, and a silver toy gun. Additional fun accessories include a black briefcase or cigarette.

Jules Winnfield

Jules Winnfield is Samuel L. Jackson's character in this Tarantino film. Also a mafia hit man, Winnfield is Vega's partner, so couples may choose to represent both characters. Pair the suit, shirt, shoes and tie noted as being appropriate for Vega with another toy gun. Purchase an afro wig to represent the character's African-American heritage; if desired, you can paint your face, neck and hands with brown body paint to make the costume as authentic as possible.

Butch Coolidge

Butch Coolidge, played by Bruce Willis, is a boxer in "Pulp Fiction." Become Coolidge this Halloween by shaving your head bald (or donning a bald cap) and wearing running shoes, loosefitting shorts made of a jersey material and no shirt. Top this off with a flowing, gold and black robe and pair of boxing gloves. To represent this character during a more intense portion of the movie, pair a fitted white T-shirt with a tan jacket and a liberal amount of fake blood spreading from your nose to the middle of your chest.
