Eclipse Mints are manufactured by the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, better known as Wrigley, the famous makers of chewing gum. Wrigley first introduced Eclipse Gum in four flavours, followed by Eclipse Mints in three flavours. Eclipse Mint ingredients include sorbitol, magnesium stearate and natural and artificial flavours. Like Eclipse Gum, all Eclipse Mints are sugar-free.

History of Eclipse Mints

Wrigley began manufacturing Eclipse Gum in 1999 as an "intense pellet gum." In 2003, Eclipse Mints were introduced as Wrigley's first non-gum product. Eclipse Mints come in three flavours: Winterfrost, Peppermint and Spearmint. All Eclipse Mints are sugar-free, their sweetness coming from the sugar substitutes sorbitol and sucralose. The ingredients for all three Eclipse Mint flavours are largely identical, with the exception of artificial colours, and possibly what comprises the unspecified "natural and artificial flavours."

Winterfrost Eclipse Mint Ingredients

Eclipse Mints' Winterfrost flavour is made of sorbitol, magnesium stearate, natural and artificial flavours (with magnolia bark extract), Acesulfame K, sucralose, lactic acid, calcium lactate, and artificial colour (blue 1 lake). Three pieces of Winterfrost mints at 2 grams provide five calories. Although Eclipse Gum features both Winterfrost and Polar Ice flavours, there is no Polar Ice Eclipse Mint flavour. As with all three Eclipse Mint flavours, there is no protein and no sugar, but there are two total carbohydrates of sugar alcohol at 2 grams.

Peppermint Eclipse Mint Ingredients

The Peppermint flavour of Eclipse Mints contains sorbitol, natural and artificial flavours (with magnolia bark extract), magnesium stearate, Acesulfame K, sucralose, and artificial colour (blue 1 lake). The sweetener sucralose is also known by the brand name Splenda. Three pieces of Peppermint mints at 2 grams are 5 calories. As with all three Eclipse Mint flavours, there is no fat or sodium. All Eclipse Mints come in two pack sizes: the single pack (50 count), and the multipack (two 50-count packs).

Spearmint Eclipse Mint Ingredients

Eclipse Mints' Spearmint flavour is made of sorbitol, natural and artificial flavours (with magnolia bark extract), magnesium stearate, Acesulfame K, sucralose, and artificial colours (yellow 5 lake and blue 1 lake). Unlike the Winterfrost and Peppermint flavours, only two pieces of Spearmint mints at 3 grams are needed for 5 calories, and not three pieces. All three Eclipse Mint flavours are constructed to provide a "cool" mouth experience, with breath freshening, "intense" flavour and easy portability.
