Fun Things to Do on a Rainy Day With Your Boyfriend or Girlfriend

Updated April 17, 2017

Cabin fever can ruin a potentially promising date. However, a rainy day does not need to ruin romantic plans. Cabin fever can turn into an inside date day full of activities and plans designed to bring you closer together and make memories. You can even brave the wet outdoors to share a romantic moment. Make the most of your rainy day redirection.

Game Day

Plan a game day together. Tweak each other's competitive natures and thinking skills. Pull out board games, card games and video games. Create a game of your own with your own rules. Alternate between games so you do not become bored. Play a card game tournament, and the person who wins the most matches wins the tournament.

Movie Marathon

Choose a movie series or television series. Order pizza, fix popcorn, make ice cream sundaes and curl up for a rainy day movie marathon. The Harry Potter series, the Lord of the Rings or episodes of "Friends" are all options that will last the whole day. Take breaks in between shows to talk about your favourite scenes or characters.

Cook a Meal

Though a romantic picnic outside is ideal, an indoor romantic dinner cooked together is just as effective. Use food you already have in the kitchen. Search recipe books or the Internet for a recipe you have always wanted to make but never tried. Gather the ingredients, turn on some music, light candles and prepare dinner together. Finish by making a dessert to enjoy after your meal.

Play Outside

While sunny, outdoor activities may be cancelled, exploring the outdoors is still an option even in the rain. Put on a raincoat and boots, and splash in puddles. Play a soccer or basketball game in the downpour. Go for a run. Dry off back at the house, and fix coffee or hot chocolate to warm up. Rainy days often make for romantic moments.
