Celebrities wear some of the craziest hairstyles in movies to set the mood. Some of them may actually look good but unfortunately many of them just wind up looking like they are having a very bad hair day. Science fiction films in particular have had well known actors and actresses sporting many crazy hairstyles.
The Fifth Element
The science fiction movie The Fifth Element from 1997 has some crazy hairstyles. Particularly Milla Jovovich's orange dreads with blond roots. Chris Tucker's character and a few others sported pompadour hairstyles. Much of the cast has their hair died platinum. The looks seem to be half punk and half-Victorian, according to the website StrayHair.com.
Sigourney Weaver and Natalie Portman both rocked bald heads, Weaver, for her character in the 1992 science fiction movie, "Alien 3". Portman shaved her head for the 2006 movie, "V For Vandetta." The actress actually said in an interview she preferred being bald after all the wonky hairstyles she endured to play Queen Amidala in the Star Wars films, according to a USA Today article.
Princess Leia Hair
Speaking of Star Wars, one of the most famous styles that came out of the 1977 original film was Carrie Fisher's Princess Leia hairstyle. The classic braids wrapped-around-the ears look definitely has captured some attention over the years. Of course, it is most likely to be worn on Halloween rather than to the office. The Moviephone Blog chose this styles as one of the craziest styles of all time.
John Travolta's bad hair day in the 2000 film, "Battlefield Earth," really turned heads. In the science fiction film he sports a wig that is almost as large as him. The wig, in addition, is mostly dreadlocks. Empire Magazine and The Independent voted it as one of the worst hairstyles in a movie.
Alice in Wonderland
Alice in Wonderland, brought a new meaning to the terms redhead and big-headed. Helena Bonham Carter's digitally enlarged head with a big red 'do and Johnny Depp's wild red curls were not your usual hairstyles. Anne Hathaway also sports a stunningly strange platinum white hairstyle with dark eyebrows that makes you look twice.
Forgetting Kate Winslet's bad dye job in Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind is near impossible. The talented actress sports a half blue half blond dye job, a bright orange 'do, and purple hair. Jim Carrey's hair is consistently miserably long and floppy through the movie, similar to his character.
