Welcome new friends or family members into the area by ordering a housewarming cake that appeals to their love for vanilla with custard filling or chocolate decadence. Choose a cake with a specific theme in mind, or simply buy a decorative cake you know this person or family will enjoy. Bake the cake yourself, or have your local baker bring your vision to life.

House Cake

Order a cake in the shape of a house that looks like the guest of honor's home. Bring a picture of the house to a baker, and ask him to replicate it. The house can sit on top of a sheet cake, or the baker can make one large house and place it on a cake holder. Ask the baker to put a sentiment on the cake that has something to do with a home. For instance, the baker can write, "Home is Where the Heart Is." You can also come up with other more simple or elaborate sayings such as "Welcome Home," "Welcome to the Neighborhood," "Welcome to Our Circle of Neighbors" or "Home Sweet Home."

Welcome Cake that Resembles a Lawn

Order a cake that resembles a lawn, and have the word "Welcome" written on it in frosting. A baker can do so by using food colouring to dye coconut slivers. The coconut shavings simulate grass. The inside of the cake can include chocolate with raspberry filling or any other flavour of your choice. Ask the baker to place a few edible flowers in random spots on top of the grass.

Sunflower Cake

Sunflowers are also welcoming and cheerful. Order a cake in the shape of a giant sunflower. Give it a filling such as chocolate with custard, or vanilla with strawberries inside. You can also order a sheet cake with sunflowers on the front or an edible sunflower border around the cake. Other types of flower cakes also work well for housewarming parties.

Three-Tier Cake with a Birdhouse on Top

Order the new neighbours a three-tier cake with a small edible birdhouse on top. Give it vanilla with chocolate filling, or fill it with raspberry and chocolate or even carrot cake. Ask the baker to decorate the tiers with edible cherry blossoms flowers, roses or other embellishments. Place small plastic birds on each tier.
