It allowed users to carry out missions in real places such as Thailand, Congo and Alaska. The franchise is available on all PlayStation gaming consoles, including the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and Sony PSP. There were a total of five titles on the PlayStation 2 system, two on PlayStation 3, and four on the PSP. "SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy Seals" is the most recent title, available in April 2011. "Battleship" is a classic navy war simulation game. A game that almost anyone can enjoy, it focuses on missions carried out in the open waters. Players guess where the enemy's five ships are in effort to sink the ships before the opponent sinks theirs. It brings strategy into sinking ships such as aircraft carriers, submarines, battleships, cruisers and destroyers. This game has evolved into variations that are available in several applications such as board games, phone games and even on computers and gaming systems.

The navy simulation game "Harpoon" is available in four different forms, which stem from the original game that was designed in the 1980s. Harpoon started as a board game, then evolved into "Harpoon Advanced Naval Warfare." The games "H3MilSim" and "Harpoon 3" for the Mac give users naval warfare simulations that train them to carry out missions based on real-life situations. With realistic gameplay scenarios, the Harpoon navy simulation series is regarded by players as one of the best.

"Silent Hunter"

"Silent Hunter" is a submarine combat simulation game for computer gaming. This series has been around since 1996 and released the newest title, "Silent Hunter 5," in 2010. The game allows users to carry out battles in the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea, commanding submarines from a first-person perspective. Players are able to command different submarines and ships in an effort to cut off Britain's supplies by way of operating German U-boats and other vessels. The "Silent Hunter" series is another one to keep in mind when looking for true-to-life navy simulation games.
