Graduations are a time to celebrate a proud achievement and for families to attend graduation ceremonies and plan commencement parties. Graduation decorations are traditional, but one personalised thing that should be present for the occasion is a picture board that spans the graduate's school years. There are several simple ways to put together a graduation picture board that will enhance the celebration.

Make a Graduation Poster Board Display

An ordinary piece of poster board can be turned into a loving tribute for a graduation celebration. This can be easily achieved by attaching pictures of the graduate to the board that show the graduate's progression from birth to the present. Display the finished poster board on an easel. For an especially tasteful touch, have it professionally framed for the graduate to keep. Use scanned reprinted photos on the display board instead of the actual photos. Sometimes the photos can be torn or damaged when you remove them from the board.

Create a Memory Scrapbook Book Wall Display

Young people are not the only ones who celebrate graduation. An older person who decided to pursue the dream of higher education or a degree toward a new career might also be celebrating this well-earned achievement. A scrapbook made ahead of time without his or her knowledge is thoughtful. Give family and friends a page to decorate as they wish with pictures of the graduate or personal messages. Collect the pages before the graduation party and create a wall collage so that everyone at the party can see the pages before you put them in a scrapbook. Do this by lining an empty wall with fabric that matches the party theme and then placing small tacks into the fabric. Put a pinch clip on the edge of each page and hang it from the tack. This allows people to remove the pages and see both sides. A board displays these nicely also. This is a display that comes directly from the heart of the people closest to the graduate. Once the party is over, you can assemble the pages in the scrapbook for safe keeping.

Make a Felt Board Graduation Display

Felt boards are about the size of poster boards but have a definite advantage. Attach photos to the board by putting little fabric fasteners on the back of pictures and placing them wherever you desire on the board. Add any other items you desire, such as previous report cards and certificates of achievement. The felt boards look nicer than poster board and you can purchase them in the school colours or the graduate's favourite colour. Place transparent tape on all four corners of the items to be placed on the board and place the fabric fasteners over the tape to facilitate removing them after the party.

Make an Athlete's Graduation Display

If your graduate was the star quarterback of the high school football team or has been recruited by a professional volleyball team now that he is graduating from college, use a uniform as part of the graduation display. Hang the uniform or letter jacket and decorate it with memorabilia from the graduate's school years. If the graduate is a tennis player, add her tennis racket. If soccer was the sport of choice, perhaps display his soccer ball and shoes on any type of board. Display it on an easel set up in a corner of the room where it will get all the attention it deserves.
