You may not have always have got along with your sister, but she was always there for you when you truly needed her. Now that you are grown up, you want to get her a special jewellery gift for her birthday. There are a range of jewellery items that incorporate your sister's birthstone, favourite style of jewellery and personalised options.

Jewellery Organizer

Choose from a variety of jewellery organisers for your sister's birthday present. The jewellery organiser might be a jewellery box --- that may or may not be musical --- a jewellery armoire or a jewellery tree. Jewellery armoires are more expensive but they are larger and hold more jewellery. Jewellery trees are a great way to display her jewellery, especially the items she wears on a regular basis.

Birthstone Jewelry

Birthstone jewellery is one of the best birthday gift ideas in the jewellery category as you will be incorporating the month she was born into the gift. When you know her birthstone for the month she was born, choose from a pair of earrings, a necklace, pendant, charm, ring or bracelet with her birthstone in it. It might have one large stone, such as a heart-shaped amethyst for a February birthday, or be a collection of stones such as a ring with a row of round-shaped rubies for a July birthday.

Locket Necklace

Give your sister a locket necklace for a memorable birthday gift. Choose a circle, oval or heart-shaped locket in the metal she prefers. Print out pictures to fit inside the locket such as photos of her and you together, the family or her children. Place the photos inside the locket and choose a coordinating necklace chain. Lockets are sold at most jewellery stores and gift shops.

Watch Bracelet

Watch bracelets provide a fashionable alternative to traditional watches. Bracelets are made with a variety of materials such as metal wire, beads, crystals and gemstones. A watch face of silver or gold is then attached to the middle of the bracelet and a clasp is attached. Purchase a watch bracelet from a jewellery store or make your own with watch kits and beading supplies sold at craft stores.

Engraved Jewelry

Engraved jewellery is a thoughtful way to give your sister a gift she will treasure. A variety of jewellery items can be engraved such as pendants, charms, ID bracelets and rings. Some items may be able to fit a larger message such as a dog tag-style pendant or other pendant with more empty space for the engraving. The insides of rings fit a short message, name or important date. Have an ID bracelet engraved with your sister's name and possibly a short message such as "I Love You."
