Pirate-themed parties are suitable for both adults and children. From mild to wild, a pirate party needs to have appropriate activities to keep guests entertained and in the spirit. Choose an assortment of activities to keep your party entertaining from start to finish.
Talk Like a Pirate
One activity that can be used for both adult and child pirate parties is to enforce a rule that guests must "talk like a pirate" during the event. To make this activity even more entertaining, create pirate dictionaries and hand them out to all guests once they arrive. Make sure to include favorite pirate phrases and expressions such as "Argh," "Ahoy, mateys" and "Blow me down!" Make the dictionaries by writing down the pirate phrase, using phonetic spelling for each word when necessary, and listing a brief definition so that guests use the words correctly.
Pirate Music and Dancing
One activity to get guests in the mood involves playing pirate theme music. Use the soundtracks from pirate movies; they are generally suitable for all ages. To keep things more entertaining, have guests dance like pirates, e.g., swing their partners around and freely dance to the beat of the music.
Pirate Dress-up
Dressing up in pirate clothing can be one way to get guests on board with the event right from the start. Ask guests to wear pirate costume and have them parade around the room in their attire as they arrive. Additional options for this type of activity include having a pirate fashion show or beauty pageant. Make sure to give extra points to guests with parrots on their shoulders, peg legs and scarves tied around their heads.
Buried Treasure Chest
Incorporate a buried treasure hunt into a pirate party. Prepare a "treasure chest" filled with goodies or colorful jewelry and fake coins. Hide it in a spot that can be easily accessed, although not in plain sight. Give each guest a basic clue to the location of the chest on a scrap of parchment-like paper upon arrival and hide other clues throughout the venue. Give party guests maps on which they can fill in their clues to find where the treasure is hidden.
