Yearbook staffs offer a number of options for senior yearbook dedications, both free and paid. The entire book is dedicated to one deserving individual and seniors receive congratulatory dedications from family and friends. Whether personal, poignant, straightforward or humorous, dedications help personalise the yearbook for the entire graduating class.
Most yearbooks are dedicated to an individual who is involved with the senior class. This can include teachers, staff members, local government or civic leaders, alumni who have helped the school, or even a classmate who has faced a serious health issue or other challenge during high school. Seniors vote from a list of candidates put together by the yearbook staff. The person is profiled on a page near the front of the book.
Family Dedication Pages
Yearbook staffs raise money by selling family dedication pages to parents and other relatives. The page or portion of a page includes a note to the graduating senior, along with pictures. Encourage parents to carefully consider the information and photos they use, because the ad will be a permanent part of the book for the entire senior class. Congratulate the student on a job well done and select pictures that won't cause embarrassment. Dedication pages are reviewed by the yearbook adviser for inappropriate content and copyrighted images.
Friendship ads offer well wishes and congratulations to members of the senior class and can also be used by seniors to thank teachers and staff members. Any student at the school can purchase an ad. They fall under the same guidelines as family dedication pages with respect to content.
After yearbooks are distributed, dedications and other notes are handwritten into the book. Students, faculty and staff write on blank pages intended for this purpose or on any page in the book. For example, if students are friends through the drama club, they might write dedications on the drama club page. Books released after graduation often have a separate autograph book that is distributed in the spring.
