The wedding favours at a wedding often receive a great deal of attention since this is the parting gift the guests take home with them. Guests are usually eager to see what the bride and groom have chosen for their wedding favours. The choice of your wedding favours should not only tie in with your wedding theme but should prove both useful and enjoyable for your guests.

Edible favours can go in a variety of directions and cover a vast array of themes. For a fall wedding, make homemade candy apples, wrap them in cellophane paper, and tie them with a ribbon that matches your wedding colours. You could also fill a bag with apple cider mix and a cinnamon stick. For a winter wedding, fill a bag with hot cocoa mix and marshmallows. Add a miniature candy cane stick to round out the gift.

Home-grown Product

Support local farmers and agriculture by giving guests a home-grown product from the area you are holding your wedding. This could include miniature bottles of syrup or maple sugar candy, jars of local jam, homemade all-natural soaps, or even soy candles. Include a note with the gift relaying the history of the store or farm you purchased the gift from, adding to the interest and appeal of the gift.

Place a small local plant into a miniature clay pot as a favour for the guests. Choose a local plant, such as a cactus, for a Southwestern state. As your guests watch it grow they will be reminded of your wedding and how the love grew between you and your mate. Wrap tulip bulbs in biodegradable boxes and include instructions for how to plant them. Include a romantic quote about how love grows like a flower in a garden. Give guests a packet of seeds for flowers or herbs and cover the front of the packet with a homemade label that relays your wedding date.

For a lighthearted and festive wedding favour choice, include a classic game for each wedding guest or wedding guest couples. This could include dominoes, a deck of cards, a Slinky, miniature Connect Four, or a Rubik's cube. Guests can enjoy the games as they are waiting for the bridal couple to make their big entrance, or after they retire to their hotel room after the wedding festivities.
