An Internet fax service allows you to send and in most cases receive faxes using the service's website or your e-mail account. You can send faxes to any fax machine or fax number using an Internet fax service. These services offer an effective, efficient method to send a low or high volume of faxes. My Fax, Metro Hi Speed and Fax Zero are examples of Internet fax services.
My Fax is an Internet faxing service that allows you to send and receive faxes. My fax offers a 30-day free trial, and you can send and receive faxes through the My Fax website or through any e-mail account. My Fax offers two service plan options as of February 2011. The £6 plan allows you to send and receive up to 500 pages per month and the £9 plan allows you to send and receive up to 1,000 pages per month.
Metro Hi Speed
Metro Hi Speed is another Internet fax service. Metro Hi Speed is a good option if you plan to send and receive a high volume of faxes. The company's service plan offers 1,000 incoming and outgoing faxes for £8.40 a month and additional pages are only three cents per page, as of February 2011. The company also allows you to send and receive faxes through the Metro Hi Speed website or through any e-mail account.
Fax Zero is an Internet fax service that offers a free faxing option. Fax zero allows you to send faxes of up to three pages for free. A small ad appears on the first page of your fax and the service permits a maximum of two free faxes. Fax Zero also offers a paid option allowing you to send a fax up to 15 pages for a flat fee of £1.20, as of February 2011. No add appears on the first page with the paid option. Fax Zero does not offer an e-mail option nor does it allow you to receive incoming faxes.
How to Use
To use fax services, sign in to the fax service's website. Click the "Send a Fax" option and enter the phone number, including the area code, that you want to send the fax to. Upload your fax as a PDF, Microsoft Word or JPG file and click the "Send" button. The fax service will send you a confirmation e-mail once the fax is successfully transmitted. Alternatively, most fax services offer an e-mail option. To use the email option, attach a PDF, Microsoft Word or JPG file to your e-mail. In the "send to" line of your e-mail, type the 10-digit fax number you want to send the fax to, plus the domain name of the fax service. For example, to send a fax by e-mail with My Fax, you would send the email to "firstname.lastname@example.org."
