Cheerleaders are passionate about their sport, team and school. The very act of cheering requires energy and enthusiasm. Decorate a cheerleader's, or future cheerleader's, room in a way reflects that favourite pastime, or shows off school pride. Personalising a bedroom makes it an enjoyable place to spend time in.

Paint the walls with the colours of your cheerleader's uniform. If she is currently cheering for her school or a local sports team, use those colours on the walls. Add a chair rail, or wallpaper border halfway up the wall. Paint a darker colour on the bottom and a lighter choice on the top. Consider adding a silhouette of a cheerleader in black on a pink wall for a little girl who loves cheerleading but isn't tied to a particular team yet.

Cover the bed with pillows and blankets that match the team colours. If the colours on the wall are green and white, then purchase a green comforter and use white pillow shams. Add a throw pillow with an image of the team mascot, or a cheerleader. Create your own designer look by embellishing a purchased comforter with decorative trim and an iron-on patch with the team, or school, logo.

Hang pom-poms from both sides of the curtain rod. Customise a plain lampshade with trim or tassels in the cheerleader's colours. Use felt letters to spell out a favourite cheer on a felt banner to hang on the wall. Use a shadow box to display a former uniform, medals or other memorabilia. Add vinyl decals to painted furniture and sew megaphones cut from fabric on throw pillows or beanbag chairs.

Display Board

Apply corkboard tiles over one wall, or use corkboard as a border around the entire room. Use peel-and-stick pieces of cork to hang posters and photos of fellow cheerleaders. Hang practice and game schedules, reminder notices and favourite quotes. Using large thumbtacks in the chief colour of the room is a nice touch. Cork can be painted before hanging it on the wall, or covered with fabric so that it blends in with the rest of the colour scheme.
