Show your son how much you love him by throwing him a surprise 10th birthday party featuring his favourite theme. Ten-year-old boys love sports, games, movies and some boys in the age group still like dinosaurs. Customise the party for him and buy decorations that match the theme of the party. Place chocolate-wrapped candies inside balloons and make sure to use his favourite coloured balloons and decorations.

"Star Wars" Party

Plan a "Star Wars"-themed party for your son's 10th birthday. Ask the kids coming to the party to dress up like their favourite "Star Wars" characters. They should be able to find costumes at party supply stores or online. Feature a cake with a space ship or "Star Wars" figurines on top. Give the kids "Star Wars" gift bags along with lightsaber swords to play with at the party. Decorate with black, white and grey balloons for this theme.

Theme Park Party

Take your son and a few of his friend's to his favourite theme parks for his birthday. If you decide to go to Disneyland, ask the kids to wear shirts with their favourite characters printed on the front. Stay in a hotel with other parents for a few days and give your son a birthday cake on one of the nights while you are visiting the parks.

Pizza Party Sleepover

Host a pizza party sleepover for your 10-year-old son. This party works well for a social boy who loves having sleepovers with his friends. Order his favourite pizza and give him a cake after dinner. Play games that have a pizza focus like pin the ingredients on the pizza. You can also set up a trampoline in the back yard if you want to start the party outside and bring it indoors as the sun goes down.

Soccer Party

Host a party at the park for a soccer-loving 10-year-old boy. Make sure that the soccer field is open and available for use on that day. Set up picnic tables with balloons and other decorations just outside the field so that kids can play soccer or go to the table when it's time to eat and open presents. Play traditional soccer games with the kids with prizes for the winning team or just let the kids kick the ball and run around together on the field. Ask guests to arrive wearing their soccer uniforms. Order a soccer ball or soccer field cake with plastic players for your son.
