The Fender Stratocaster electric guitar has been in production since 1954 and is the most popular, and imitated, guitar design in history. For decades, Fender has produced standard commercial series and Signature Strats built to the specifications of dozens of music icons, including Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Eric Johnson, Billy Corgan and many others. The 60th Anniversary Fender Strat Deluxe was produced in 2006 to commemorate Fender's 60th anniversary. The guitar is a special updated version of the classic American Strat first produced in the 1950s.

The 60th Anniversary Fender Strat Deluxe is a traditional, general use Fender guitar that is appropriate for most types of music. The body is shaped from either ash or alder wood with a neck shaped from maple with a satin-finished modern C-shaped design. The fingerboard has a 9.5-inch radius and a rosewood finish with rolled edges. There are 22 medium jumbo frets and an American 2-point tremolo (whammy bar) with stainless steel saddles. The hardware is made of chrome and the full guitar length is 25.5 inches with a 1.6875-inch-wide nut.
This guitar version has a master volume control and the Delta Tone System, which has a no-load tone control, for middle and bridge pickups, and a hot-bridge pickup for increased bridge pickup output. It sports three New American Vintage, single-coil pickups and 5-position pickup switching blade, with hum cancelling in the middle position and Fender/Schaller deluxe staggered cast/sealed tuning machines. Also available is H/S/H pickup cavity routing, which allows for pickup modification without re-routing the pickups or cutting into the instrument's body.
Cosmetically, the guitar has a special 60th anniversary engraved neckplate, a headstock emblem inlaid with cubic zirconium, parchment knobs and pickup covers and a commemorative case in honour of the anniversary. This anniversary edition maintains the same headstock and body shape of the original American Stratocaster design.
The deep C-shaped neck allows for a natural fit in the hands and the guitar's ash or alder build is solid and durable. The pickups offer a wide variety of tones, making this a versatile guitar appropriate for most styles of music. The pickups are factory adjusted to give consistent sound that is clean both with and without distortion, especially with higher powered amps. Tuning is held well and is appropriate for live performances.
