Choosing your wedding colours is one of the most important aspects of your wedding because it will dictate a lot of your decoration choices. For example, your bridesmaid dresses, groomsmen tuxedos, flowers and invitations will all be chosen with your wedding colours in mind. There are several different ways that you can incorporate your turquoise colours into your reception.

There are a few different options for your linens to properly represent your wedding colours, depending on your tastes. To really showcase your colours, consider using turquoise tablecloths with matching turquoise chair covers. To break up the colour a bit, add a white table runner with matching white chair sashes. If you're looking to have just a "pop" of turquoise colour, keep the tablecloths and chair covers a simple white, off-white or cream colour. Add a turquoise table runner and matching chair sash.

Decorating your table can bring a whole new life to your reception. For a simple look, fill a clear vase with turquoise stones or glass beads. Place a bouquet of coordinating flowers in each vase, centred on each table. Or opt for a simple white vase with your turquoise-coloured flowers inside. If you have the time -- and patience -- purchase a turquoise acrylic paint that's safe for dinnerware, and decorate each plain white plate with a simple floral design.

Most brides and grooms purchase wedding favours to be on everyone's plate when they arrive to the reception. If you're thinking about giving each guest some gourmet chocolates or candy, have it packaged in turquoise boxes; if you're giving each guest a small (or large) bottle of wine, create turquoise labels. Another popular idea is to donate money to your favourite charity in your guests' names. If doing this, create a small card, printed on turquoise card stock, explaining the charity and what the proceeds go to.

And, of course, your cake should also represent your wedding colour theme. If you'd like to really showcase your colour, consider a cake that is completely turquoise with a design on it in a coordinating or black colour (see Resources). If you think you may want something a little more simple, stick with a plain white, off-white or winter white cake with a delicate design or no design at all. At the bottom of each layer, have a simple turquoise ribbon wrapped around the cake.
