For years, Muslim communities in non-Muslim countries have stressed the need for all-girl Muslim schools. In all-girl schools, 100 per cent of the teacher's attention is given to girls, unlike other schools where the teachers must divide their attention. Muslim communities also appreciate the sheltered and unadulterated environment Muslim schools offer for their children. In these schools, students are not faced with the peer pressures of dating, drugs, alcohol and other un-Islamic behaviour.

Aqsa Islamic School for Girls

The school started out in 1993 with only high school but expanded to all grades from preschool to 12th grade as of 2010. Boys and girls are together until the 6th grade, after which the school is only for girls. Heavy rainfall in 2005 made the school renovate the entire building and now the school can hold 300 students. Muslim Girls School is accredited by the Ontario Ministry of Education. Many of the school's graduates have gone on to attend prestigious universities such as: York University, University of Toronto, University of Waterloo and McMaster University. The school also offers the Alima Program, a rigorous program to become an Islamic scholar.

Azhar Academy Girls School

The Azhar Academy is a secondary all-girls Islamic school in East London where it is estimated that approximately 150,000 Muslims live within a 10-square mile radius of the school. The school offers excellent education to Muslim girls including sixth form college style since 2007. As of 2010, the school is in preliminary discussion with the University of East London to start undergraduate courses for Muslim girls at Azhar Academy. Apart from academics, the school provides providing swimming lessons and a variety of sports opportunities.

Institute of Islamic Education

Located in Elgin, Ill., 25 miles west of Chicago, IIE started out in 1994 and today has more than 100 students from the Chicago area and surrounding states. The school is for Muslim students who wish to supplement their secular education with the Alim program, a five-year rigorous program in Islamic studies. The school accepts students up to the 12th grade and began accepting boys in 1999, although they are housed in a different building. IIE is a boarding school but the students are allowed to return home on the weekend. The graduates of the school are 'hufaz,' those who have memorised the whole Koran and most go on to attend prestigious universities and some become leaders and professionals in the Chicago area.
