Decorating a little girl's bedroom is never an easy concept because of the numerous ideas. If your special girl likes gymnastics, you're halfway to the finished room. A gymnastics-themed bedroom works with dozens of different colour palettes, including the bright and bold colour scheme of the U.S. Olympics and the paler and more girl-friendly pastels. Pick a colour scheme first, and work around that scheme to come up with different ideas to decorate the bedroom.

Turn the walls of her bedroom into a shrine for her favourite sport. Display posters and pictures of her favourite gymnasts to give her some inspiration. Buy fake gold medals, and hang those over the mirror, showing her how far she might go someday. If she has practised gymnastics for years, have her first leotard framed and hang that in the bedroom.
Pick a few pieces for the room that focus on her life as a gymnast as well as on her friends. Display a framed photo of her and her gymnastics team or class right over the bed. You can even add to an existing photograph, making it look as though the team made it to the Olympics or won a gold medal and have it turned into a poster for her room. Add a long shelf to one wall, and use that space to display any trophies, ribbons or medals that she wins at events.
Opt for simple gym mats, just like those found in the gym where she practices. Not only are the mats cheaper than hardwood flooring or ordering new carpet, but they also keep her from injuring herself. Purchase a few mats in the same colour scheme as the room, or purchase neutral coloured mats. After arranging the furniture, find room for the gym mats. You don't have to worry about her tumbling off the bed or hurting herself while practicing because she has the soft padding scattered around the room.
Turn some of her old gym clothes into bedding for the room. An old leotard becomes a body pillow when filled with quilt batting or pillow stuffing and stitched shut. Gather her old gymnastics clothes, including shirts from previous teams. Cut the fronts off the shirts, and stitch the pieces together. Add some quilt batting and a sheet to the back for a completely individual and one-of-a-kind quilt for her bed.
