How to get to the British Consulate-General from Copacabana

If you are staying in Copacabana, getting to the Consulate is very straightforward. You can board buses 119, 136 or 154 on Rua Figueiredo de Magalhaes or Av. Nossa Senhora de Copacabana. The trip takes about half an hour, and you should step off the Bus at Praia do Flamengo 300. The Consulate-General is just across the way from the Carlos Werneck Theatre.

How to get to the British Consulate-General from Ipanema or Lagoa

If you are staying further to the south, in Ipanema or Lagoa, your best bet is to take buses 569, 573 or 583 on Rua Visconde de Pirajá. They'll take you almost along the shore to the east, and then to the north. You'll have to step off the bus at Rua Senador Vergueiro 40, about a 100 metres after crossing Rua Tucumam. You should then walk around the block, keeping to your right, to get to Praia do Flamengo.

How to get to the British Consulate-General from Galeao International Airport

Getting to the Consulate-General from the Galeao International Airport will take you a while, but it's not difficult at all. First, you should get out of the airport and take line 2101, which should have a sign stating it's headed to Santos Dumont International Airport. About an hour and seven stops later, you should get off the bus on Avenida Venezuela, after the bus crosses Rua Edgard Grodilho. On that same bus stop, you should board line 2014. About half an hour and 15 stops later, you should get off the bus on Praia do Flamengo, just after crossing Rua Barao do Flamengo.
