Bulgaria’s Sunny Beach is an 8 km (5 miles) stretch of The Black Sea coast. It’s a Blue Flag beach which is home to Bulgaria’s biggest water park. There are many things to do in and around Sunny Beach, including activities in the air, on land and on water. Alternatively, you can relax and enjoy the sun.

In the air

Hang-gliding and para-sailing are two popular activities available at Sunny Beach. Further, you can do bodyflight -- or indoor skydiving -- at the Aerodium bodyflight arena. This consists of a vertical shaft housing a large propeller, mounted horizontally to a powerful engine. It produces enough force to lift people into the air.

On water

There are many water-based activities available in Sunny Beach. There are four main aqua parks. These are: Action Aqua Park; Aqua Paradise, the largest of the four; Kuban Aqua Park and the Pirates of the Caribbean Mini Aqua Park, which is suitable for younger children. Available activities elsewhere on Sunny Beach include motor-launch cruises, water skiing and wind-surfing. You can also travel along the Ropotamo River or take a sailing trip in a catamaran.

On land

Horse riding is popular in Sunny Beach, on the beach and elsewhere. The riding centre is in the northern part of the area, close to St Vlas -- or Sveti Vlas -- and they have professional instructors. Go karting is also available nearby. The 500 metre long track is on the main road between Bourgas and Varna. Elsewhere, you can also take part in paintballing, ride bicycles and play golf.

You can do plenty of not-so-active things in Sunny Beach. The most obvious is lying back and enjoying the beach. You can also enjoy meals in many different restaurants, some of which are themed to appeal to British tourists. You can go on excursions to many local places. These include Strandzha Mountains, Veliko Tarnovo and two other local beaches -- Golden Sands and Albena. There is plenty of night life in Sunny Beach too, including Dance Club Mania and Disco Orange. The Corner Pub and Dak’s Irish Bar and are themed to appeal to British and Irish holidaymakers.
