Unlike traditional soft toys, Doodle Bears encourage children to draw and doodle on them. (Courtesy of Fisher-Price)

Colourful, soft and sold with special dual-tipped marker pens, Doodle Bears allow their young owners to draw, stamp, trace, decorate and, of course, doodle on their fabric faces and bodies. Because the marker pens use washable ink, the bears can be machine washed again and again, meaning children can scribble on the toys as often as they like. For best results, the toy should be washed withing 48 hours of the last doodle.

Put the Doodle Bear inside a pillowcase and secure the top with an elastic band to prevent the toy from falling out.

Machine wash

Place the pillowcase and the Doodle Bear in a washing machine and select a gentle cycle that uses cold water.

Check all the marker stains have been removed from the Doodle Bear before you attempt to tumble dry the toy. Only tumble dry the Doodle Bear on a low heat or you risk causing permanent stains. Alternatively, place the toy outside in the sun to dry naturally or near a radiator.

Advice and warnings

Do not use bleach during the wash cycle and ensure you only use cold, not hot, water.

Children should avoid using the special marker pens on any other fabric or surface as it may leave a stain or result in damage.

If you get any of the marker ink on your child's skin, use soap and water to remove it as soon as possible.
