No blender? No problem! Even if you do not have a handy blender you can still make a deliciously frothy banana smoothie to order. This tasty vitamin-packed drink makes for the perfect breakfast or healthy afternoon snack. Full of potassium, protein, calcium and fibre, it’s a great filling drink if you are watching your waistline, need a post workout boost or simply in the need for a refreshing and satisfying pick me up.
Peel and mash
Peel and cut two bananas and throw it into a large bowl. If you have a potato masher, mash up the bananas until it forms a mushy paste. If you don’t have a masher, just use a fork or spoon.
Place a handful of ice cubes into a well-sealed bag. Wrap the bag in a dishtowel and strike it with a hammer or mallet, to crust the ice cubes.
Combine the ice and bananas and mix well.
Combine ingredients and shake
Add yogurt, milk and orange juice to the mix, and whisk until foamy. If you have an electric mixer, mix until you have a smooth consistency. If you do not have an electric mixer, add the mixture into a Tupperware with a tight lid and shake well. Add more milk if the mixture is too thick.
Pour into a large glass for serving.
