Egg cartons and toilet paper rolls are versatile craft materials. They can be used to create toys for toddlers such as animals or flowers with the help of other simple crafting materials. Egg cartons and toilet paper rolls can also be used as sculpture bases or they can be broken down to create a papier mache mixture that can be used to create everything from boxes to vases and more.

Animals/Insects/Flowers

Empty egg cartons and toilet paper rolls can be used to construct a variety of animals, as well as insects and flowers. You can create a wiggle worm with several toilet paper rolls, string and two sections of an egg carton as eyes. To create a cow, use two toilet paper rolls as the body and head of the cow and four sections of an egg carton as the feet. Pain the cow black and white and add googly eyes and a tail to complete the animal. To create a flower in a vase, use a toilet paper roll as the vase and decorate. Create a flower by using a green pipe cleaner as the stem and painted egg carton sections as the petals of the flower. Glue the egg carton sections to the green pipe cleaner and place in the decorated toilet paper vase.

Sculpture base/Papier Mache Mix

Egg cartons and toilet paper rolls can be used to shape the base of a sculpture. The cartons and paper rolls are flexible and can be cut or manipulated to create the base. To reinforce the sculpture base, use wires along with the egg cartons and toilet rolls. Once you have shaped the base of the sculpture, you can create a papier mache mixture out of cardboard egg cartons and toilet paper rolls to cover the base with. Once the base is covered and the mixture is dry, paint and decorate the sculpture. Seal the sculpture with a clear acrylic in a matt or shiny finish.
