Habbo Hotel, or Habbo for short, is a social networking platform. The site is designed to appeal to tweens and teens, providing a graphically-rich environment, fun online games and media sharing. Rather than posting social networking information on a message board or wall, the site uses a virtual room for your avatar, customisable to meet your individual tastes and preferences. You can expand on this customisable platform with special text-based symbols. If you want to add symbols to your postings, Windows has a preinstalled program to assist you.

  1. 1

Click on the Windows "Start" button.

  2. 2

Click "All Programs." A list of your computer's software replaces the default Start menu options.

  3. 3

Click on the "Accessories" folder, then click the "System Tools" subfolder.

  4. 4

Click on "Character Map" to open it in a new window.

  5. 5

Scroll the list of symbols and click on one you want to use. Depending on your computer's font packs and your edition of Windows, the Character Map's content varies. Generally speaking, you can access common European language symbols, basic emoticons, mathematical notations and finance symbols.

  6. 6

Click "Select," then click "Copy" after the symbol is highlighted.

  7. 7

Open your Habbo Hotel account and navigate to the message or post where you want to insert the symbol.

  8. 8

Press and hold the "Ctrl" key, then hit "V" on your keyboard. This keystroke pastes the special character into the Habbo Interface. You can repeat the steps for additional symbols, or continue typing using the characters available on your QWERTY keyboard.
