An rDNS, or reverse Domain Name Service, zone is a configuration file created on a Web server that tells computers what domain name resides at a particular IP address. If you use the Webmin configuration panel on your Web server, you can use it to set up your rDNS zone file.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

  1. 1

Log in to the Webmin administration panel on your Web server.

  2. 2

Click "Servers" and "Create a new master zone."

  3. 3

Click "Reverse," then type in the domain name and the IP address of the domain name.

  4. 4

Select "Automatic" for the Records file, type in the domain name for the master DNS server and type in the email address for the administrator for the zone.

  5. 5

Click "Create" to create the reverse DNS zone.
