"PowerDirector" is a semi-professional video editing software application which lets you capture, edit and share your work within the software. In addition to allowing you to cut and piece together multiple video clips you can also apply a series of effects to your video. Once you have applied your chosen effect you can insert keyframes into the timeline to edit the effect at or between specific points. With a little practice, you'll be able to edit the effect to match your video clip perfectly.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

  1. 1

Click on the "Effect Room" icon on the left hand side of the screen. It is represented by a slide of film with a star shape in the middle. This will bring up the Effects Menu.

  2. 2

Double-click on the effect you want to modify then click "Modify."

  3. 3

Use the playback controls to view your current video clip and the effect. Drag the slider forwards and backwards through the video to find the section you want to edit.

  4. 4

Use keyframes to select the part of the effect you want to edit. Click on the "Add Keyframes" button which is represented by a diamond shape with a plus symbol next to it. Place the keyframes in the timeline at the beginning and end of the footage you want to edit.

  5. 5

In the edit window, move the various sliders to adjust the properties of the effect between the keyframes. For example, moving the slider for opacity to the left will make the effect more transparent.

  6. 6

Click "File" then "Save" to save the changes to your clip.
