Apple's iPad device can connect to the Internet through a 3G or Wi-Fi connection, depending upon the model you purchase, to download applications and media files. It can also connect to your computer through the iTunes program and synchronise with the files on your computer. However, before this synchronisation is possible, you must authorise your computer to synchronise with the iTunes store account on your iPad.

Open a Web browser window, and navigate to the iTunes download page at Apple.com.
Click the blue "Download Now" button at the left side of the window, then save the file to your computer.
Double-click the downloaded iTunes file, then follow the prompts to complete the installation.
Insert the large end of your iPad USB cable into the port on the bottom of the iPad.
Connect the small end of the iPad USB cable to a USB port on your computer, which will prompt the iTunes program to open.
Click "Store" at the top of the window, then click "Authorize This Computer."
Click the "Apple ID" or "AOL ID" option at the left side of the window.
Type your Apple or AOL ID into the "Apple ID" or "AOL ID" field, then type your password into the "Password" field.
