Dealing with a negligent doctor is frustrating and, at times, may seem impossibly overwhelming -- making you feel you should ignore your complaint altogether. Filing a complaint against your doctor is possible with services online regardless of your location. Whether you would like to formally complain about your doctor or write a review on the practice, resources are available free online.

Gather all of the medical history and records you currently have that involve the doctor you are filing a complaint about. Request your medical records from the doctor's office yourself if you do not currently have all of your up-to-date information.
Write down the complaint about the doctor or gather any previous complaints filed in person or with your doctor directly. Organise your information for future reference and further filing against your doctor.
Visit a well-known online doctor-reviewing website. Some doctor-review websites include Rate MDs (ratemds.com) and Doctor Scoreboard (doctorscoreboard.com).
Locate a "Search" text box or enter your doctor's name into the search text area, including the location information as well and press "Enter" or the "Search" button if available. This will scan the website directory for all results including your doctor or doctors with similar names and locations. Once the results load, you will also have the option to contribute a complaint or review of the doctor.
Find and select "Rate Doctor" or "Review Doctor" within your doctor's page. If the website you are using does not currently show your doctor in its search results, oftentimes it is possible to create a new doctor entry for the first review by finding a "New Doctor" or "Add Doctor" link.
Complete the review and rating online, including details from your original complaint and adding a rating for various services at the doctor's office (including wait time, bedside manner and cost). Once you have filled all of the information you would like using the website, submit the review to file it within the doctor review directory. Your complaint and review will be visible online for the general public to see at anytime.
Tips and warnings
- Attempt to call your doctor's office directly to file a formal complaint or to try and work the issues out directly before filing a complaint elsewhere. Although you are free to file and report doctors any time, filing a complaint directly with the office itself may help you resolve the issue at hand.
