The IMG file format is a virtual replication of a CD, DVD or Blu-ray Disc. This "image" of a disc can be loaded or mounted by a virtual drive, software which acts as if you are putting a physical disc into your computer. There are many free disc drive emulators, such as Virtual Clone Drive, Daemon Tools Lite and Alcohol 52%. Each program can allow you to open an IMG file.
