How to Disable a MacBook Pro Trackpad in Windows

When you load into Windows through Bootcamp on a MacBook Pro, you do not have an option to disable the trackpad like you do in the Mac OS X operating system. You need a third-party utility, such as Trackpad Magic, to disable the Mac's trackpad when you hook up a mouse in Windows. If you do not disable the trackpad while using a mouse, you may accidentally send through input on your trackpad while using the keyboard.

    Go to Trackpad Magic's website at pocketlim.com. Click "Trackpad Magic." Click "Download" then select "Latest Version."

    Unzip the installation file from the archive. Double-click "trackpadmagic.exe."

    Right-click the Trackpad Magic icon that appears in your system tray.

    Click "Disable Apple Trackpad" to completely disable the touchpad. Click "Automatically Disable Trackpad When External Mouse is Plugged in" to only disable the trackpad if you connect a mouse.
