When you load into Windows through Bootcamp on a MacBook Pro, you do not have an option to disable the trackpad like you do in the Mac OS X operating system. You need a third-party utility, such as Trackpad Magic, to disable the Mac's trackpad when you hook up a mouse in Windows. If you do not disable the trackpad while using a mouse, you may accidentally send through input on your trackpad while using the keyboard.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

  1. 1

Go to Trackpad Magic's website at Click "Trackpad Magic." Click "Download" then select "Latest Version."

  2. 2

Unzip the installation file from the archive. Double-click "trackpadmagic.exe."

  3. 3

Right-click the Trackpad Magic icon that appears in your system tray.

  4. 4

Click "Disable Apple Trackpad" to completely disable the touchpad. Click "Automatically Disable Trackpad When External Mouse is Plugged in" to only disable the trackpad if you connect a mouse.
