Unlock Al-Cid. Ivalice's Spanish romantic is able to be unlocked by completing the "A Refined Recruit" side quest. This mission is obtained by reading a letter from him in any pub, after the main quest line has already been finished. Al-Cid will join after completion of "A Refined Recruit", but is only able to learn "Reconnaissance" as a Hume Agent.
Unlock Frimelda. Frimelda Lotice, the zombie Paladin turned Hume, is available for addition to your "Final Fantasy" team. You'll need to complete Quest B5-07, also known as "Memories Forged" and simply progress through the main storyline to B5-11. Frimelda will be added to your team to aid in the journey.
Unlock Montblanc. The sidekick from "Final Fantasy Tactics Advance" returns to its sequel as a secret character. Montblanc is unlocked through Quest E5-12 -- "Wanted: Friends, Kupo!" -- after the game has already been completed. Equip Giga's Pendant, Pin of Order and Earrings of the Dead to your party prior to the mission. Montblanc will be able to learn the entire set of black magic spells for Moogles.
Unlock Penelo. This Hume can unlock Vierra-specific job classes once added to the party. Travel to Fluorgis and access "An Elegant Encounter," a new mission that will be prompted from talking to Al-Cid. After talking to him, Penelo will show up and join your party to aid in the quest.
Unlock Vaan. Although finding Vaan with Penelo proved daunting throughout "An Elegant Encounter," the "Final Fantasy XII" star isn't unlocked until "Where Could He Be?" is completed. Vaan will be immobilised throughout the entire mission, so your job will be to essentially keep him alive while simultaneous warding off the groups of enemies on your way to Al-Cid.
