How to Convert an MHT Document to the Word Format

Updated March 23, 2017

A file saved as a single file Web page by certain Web browsers carries the MHT file extension. Microsoft Word 2010 supports the MHT files and allows you to open, edit and print files with this extension. If you want to convert a MHT file to a Word document file with the DOC file extension, you can do so by using Microsoft Word's save feature. Files saved as Word documents expand your formatting options within the program.

Open Microsoft Word 2010.

Click the "File" tab at the top of the program's window, then click "Open."

Click the "Files of Type" drop-down menu, then click "All Files."

Locate the file with the MHT extension on your computer, select it and click the "Open" button.

Click the "File" tab, then click "Save As."

Click the "Files of Type" drop-down menu, then click "Word Document."

Click the "Save" button.
