Bite alarms, or indicators, are used by anglers to help detect when a fish takes the bait. From a simple bell attached to the end of the rod to more sophisticated electronic devices, bite indicators are available from a variety of fishing and sporting good outlets. Carp anglers particularly appreciate the features of the Micro Swinger indicator from the Fox manufacturing company. Setting up the Micro Swinger is designed to be a straight forward process.

Instructions

  1. 1

Attach the black plastic mounting bracket on the end of the Micro Swinger to the rod holder. Follow the manufacturer's directions on specifics regarding attachment of the Micro Swinger to different types of rod holders.

  2. 2

Rig your fishing rod as normal. Use a rig for carp such as a hair rig and attach a boilie or other bait based on preference. Cast the rigged line into the water.

  3. 3

Set the rod and reel in the rod holder. Close the bail on the reel to prevent line from freely spooling.

  4. 4

Raise the indicator head on the front of the Micro Swinger up. Slide the power switch to the "on" position. Attach the indicator head to your fishing line.

  5. 5

Slide the adjustable weight forward or back along the Micro Swinger. Slide the weight forward to increase the sensitivity or back to decrease the sensitivity. Make small adjustments until the indicator will detect a strike based on personal preference.
