SketchUp is one of Google's side projects. It is a 3D-modeling program that allows you to create 3D graphics that you can combine with Google Earth real-world locations. A "silent install" SketchUp requires no input from you the user whatsoever. This is not a default option in SketchUp, so you will have to create your own .bat file that tells the installer program which choices to make during the installation process.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

  1. 1

Launch "Notepad" from the Windows Start menu. The program is located under the "Accessories" folder.

  2. 2

Copy and paste the following code into the "Notepad" window"

    ECHO Installing SketchUp

    start /wait googlesketchupwen.exe /a /s /sms /f1%CD%setup.iss /f2%temp%setup.log

    del "%allusersprofile%desktopGoogle SketchUp.lnk"

    move "%allusersprofile%start menuprogramsgoogle sketchup 6 Google Sketchup.lnk" "%allusersprofile%start menuprograms"

    rd "%allusersprofile%start menuprogramsgoogle sketchup X" /S/Q

    del "%temp%setup.log"

Replace the "X" in line seven with the version number of your SketchUp program.

  3. 3

Click the "File," select "Save As."

  4. 4

Type "Install.bat" into the "filename" box. Browse to where the SketchUp install file is located and save the file to that directory.

  5. 5

Open "My Computer" and browse to the directory containing "SketchUp" and the Install.bat file.

  6. 6

Double-click the "Install.bat" file. This will launch a silent install program for SketchUp using the default options.
