You use the APN, or Access Point Name, on your iPhone 3G or other smartphone to share the Internet connection on your phone with other devices such as computers, iPods and other phones. The APN uses a username and a password to access the hot spot when you create it. If you need to change the APN settings on your smartphone, you can do so through the user interface on your phone. Once you change your APN settings, the other devices will need the new username and password to log into the APN.
