How to Print a PDF File to a Dot Matrix Printer

Dot matrix printers may have been the most popular computer components when they first hit the market, but they're been pushed to the side by competing laser jet and ink jet printers. This doesn't mean the pixel-by-pixel printers aren't still a viable option for printing items such as PDFs, portable document format files. You can send a PDF to a dot matrix printer just as you would any other word processing document, image or spreadsheet, with no differences in the printing process.

    Turn on the dot matrix printer and load in the paper ream. Check that enough ink is available to print the PDF.

    Double-click the PDF icon to open it or browse to its location on the computer.

    Click the "File" menu. Select "Print." Choose the printer from the "Name" drop-down if it is not already showing as the default option.

    Click up the "Copies" box to the number of copies of the PDF to print.

    Click the "OK" button to print the PDF.
