Facebook has revolutionised the way that you can share your life with the world. With Facebook's status updates, you can provide short, day-to-day updates to your friends and family. If you want to emphasise an emotion in your next message, try adding emoticons such as smiley faces to your status update. Facebook offers 26 different types of smileys that you can create by entering a simple three-character code.

    Go to the Facebook website. Log in by typing your username and password into the respective text fields at the top of the page. Click the "Log In" button.

    Navigate to in a separate tab or window. Scroll down until you reach the following heading: "Here is a complete list of all Facebook Emoticon Codes." This section contains a table of smiley faces for Facebook. Choose a smiley from the far left column that you want to add to your status update. Click and drag your cursor over the code to the right of the smiley in one of the columns highlighted in beige. Press "CTRL" + "C" to copy the code.

    Open the Facebook window again. Click anywhere inside the "Status Update" text field at the top of the main page. Type your message. Press "CTRL" + "V" to paste the code for your smiley face wherever you want it to appear in your message.

    Click the "Share" button. You can now see your message with a smiley face in your news feed.
