If you need to place your iPhone into recovery mode, to upgrade the device's operating system or restore the device, you must press and hold the "Sleep/Wake" button and the "Home" button while plugging the device into a computer. If you have a defective "Home" button, however, you may be unable to do this using the traditional method. For iPhone users with this issue, there is an application that lets you put your iPhone into recovery mode without the "Home" button.
