How to Create Your Own Virtual Pokemon

Updated April 17, 2017

Pokemon creatures are based on the popular "Pokemon" video game series in which hundreds of different Pokemon coexist with humans, known as Pokemon Trainers. The trainers capture, collect, trade and battle Pokemon. When first playing the game, the player receives only three types of Pokemon. However, if you are looking to expand your Pokemon expertise and experience, you can create online a virtual Pokemon. Creating a Pokemon gives you more freedom in the video game while still allowing you to play the game.

Open your web browser and enter the address "" This is the only website that allows you to create and care for your virtual Pokemon.

Click the "Sign Up" button at the top right of the screen. Enter your information, such as name, gender and e-mail address, then press "Continue."

Select the Pokemon team you would like to be on. The species of Pokemon you can create depends on your team. For example, Team TPPC allows you to choose from first-generation Pokemon while Team Galactic allows you to pick from fourth-generation Pokemon.

Select the type of Pokemon to create. There will be several images of Pokemon types directly under your team name. Once you have selected the Pokemon you would like, press "OK."

Check your e-mail for an activation link. This can take up to an hour, though it usually happens instantly. Once clicked, the link will direct you to your new Pokemon. Here you can edit, trade, breed, evolve, swap, battle and more with your virtual pet.
