Mibbit is a chat network that uses the IRC interface. Users can download this Web-based chat client for free for use with any Internet browser. Each chat room has a set of moderators who are there to make sure everyone is following the rules. If you're breaking the rules, which you agreed to when you initially signed up, then the moderator can ban you from the chat room for anywhere from 24 hours to indefinitely. Contact the moderator to discuss removing your ban if you feel it was unfair or you have learnt your lesson.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

  1. 1

Send an e-mail to the Mibbit moderators at and request to be unbanned. They can only help you if you've been banned from one of the official chat rooms: #mibbit, #help and #chat.

  2. 2

Send a personal message to the person who banned you by entering Mibbit and typing "/msg Nick message." In this command, replace "Nick" with the person's user name and replace "message" with whatever you want to say. With the privately-run chat rooms, there's no guarantee that the moderator is going to remove the ban on you, or even take time to listen to you.

  3. 3

Wait for your ban to be lifted. Most bans are only a week long, assuming it's your first offence. If the ban isn't going to be lifted on its own, then chances are you won't be able to get the ban removed by contacting a moderator either.
