The drawing canvas is a tool within Microsoft Word for Windows software. This canvas pops up whenever you click on the "Shapes" icon and select "New Drawing Canvas" in the pop-up menu. It also opens up when you opt to insert a new shape or drawing into your word document. Text can be added to any drawing canvas with a few clicks of the mouse and some keystrokes.
