How to Open a WEBARCHIVE File on a PC

Updated March 23, 2017

A WEBARCHIVE file is a webpage saved in an archive, similar to a ZIP file, by the Apple Safari browser. These files contain content from a webpage, including images, HTML pages and supporting scripting and code. On a Mac, a file of type WEBARCHIVE may be opened with Apple TextEdit or iCab. You can open a WEBARCHIVE file on a PC too by downloading and installing Apple Safari, which is free. The WEBARCHIVE file will open and display with its original formatting.

Open a Web browser and navigate to the Safari download page.

Download and install the Apple Safari browser for PC. Once the program is installed on the PC, an icon appears on the Windows desktop.

Drag the WEBARCHIVE file onto the Safari icon. The file opens in the Safari browser.
