Virtual Studio Technology plugins provide additional equaliser functions for music mixing software. You can install the VST plugins to an external hard drive if you want to save some space on your internal hard drive or it is full. The process for installing to an external hard drive is similar to a standard installation, but you will have to connect the external hard drive to the computer to access the plugins. Since the plugins are generally distributed as open-source technology they are available from a variety of developers and different websites.
